Introducing Crime Stoppers

CRIME STOPPERS is a program which brings the public, the media, and the police together in the fight against crime.

Binghamton Crime Stoppers is a not for profit community organization governed by a civilian Board of Directors. This Board of Directors meets once each month to evaluate arrests and decide on the size of rewards to be paid, up to $1000.

Crime Stoppers relies on cooperation between the general community, the police and the media to provide a flow of information about crime and criminals.

The community is looked to for information on any crime(s) an individual may have knowledge of. Crime Stoppers encourages citizens to provide this information without fear of retribution by providing two avenues for submitting information, an Anonymous Tip Line (866-304-TIPS) as well as a Secure Tip Form available on this web site.

Citizens providing information are never asked for their name. The Crime Stoppers Anonymous Tip Line is a secure line which does not use caller ID and calls are not recorded. The Secure Tip Form has no tracking capability and all information submitted is encrypted for security.

All submitted tips are promptly passed to the appropriate law enforcement personnel and investigated. If the information provided leads to the arrest and indictment of an offender, the informant is then eligible for a reward and should once again contact Crime Stoppers.

The local media are looked to for support in helping Crime Stoppers publicize current and unsolved crimes and also to inform the public about Binghamton Crime Stoppers as a tool to work together in building a safer community for us all.

CRIME STOPPERS is a not for profit organization and is funded entirely by private donations and fund raising.

THIS WEEK'S CASE

-- Binghamton Fugitive --

On August 8th, 2008, Binghamton City Court Mary Anne Lehmann issued an Arrest Warrant for one Shakaris M. Glover, for the charge of Forgery in the Second Degree, a Class D Felony.

Apparently Glover forged a second persons name to a check payable to that person, and then cashed the check at a local bank.

Shakaris M. Glover is described as a black female, 5’9, about 150lbs, with long brown hair.

Binghamton Police Department records show her last known address to be 111 Glenwood Ave, Binghamton.

Along with specific suspect information, Investigators would be interested in information from anyone who may have witnessed any of the incident, and / or observed any suspicious individuals.
