At about 11:45pm on Christmas Eve, a female met up with an unknown male on a bicycle near the corner of North St. and Edwards St. in Binghamton, and after a brief conversation with the male she went with him to an apartment on Chapin St. When the female got uncomfortable with the situation and tried to leave the building, the male grabbed her and pulled her into a bedroom, where he proceeded to severely beat, and then rape the female. The suspect then told the female that he would shoot her if she moved from the room. The male then left the area. The description of the male is of a black male with short hair, wearing a tan jacket and a big oval shaped belt buckle, last seen on a bicycle in the Chapin St. area.  

  On December 19 th, 2006, sometime between the afternoon hours of 12:00PM and 3:00PM a burglary occurred on Park Avenue in the Town of Binghamton. Taken from the residence was $3,000 to $5000 worth of Christmas Presents for the three children of the residence, as well as jewelry belonging to the wife, and a wallet belonging to the husband. The New York State Police have arrested William Beiber for the burglary, but are looking for information regarding his accomplice. The suspects were caught on surveillance cameras at a local store using a credit card taken in the burglary. The female is described as a white female in her 30s, with long blond hair, and a medium to heavy build.  
 
  On December 30, 2006, at about 10:30 PM, a woman had been shopping at the Price Chopper, 10 Glenwood Ave, Binghamton, and apparently left the store without her purse. The purse, containing her personal belongings, cash, and credit cards, had been left in her cart at the store. Upon returning to the store she was unable to locate the purse. At about 1:30AM, the woman’s credit card was used at the Wal-Mart in Vestal to purchase several items. There were three suspects caught on surveillance cameras at the store using the credit card. All three suspects are white, all appear to be in their early 20’s, there are two female suspects, and one male suspect. The suspects are believed to have left the store and taken a cab from the area.  
 
  On February 12 th, 2007, at about 6:30pm, a man lost his change purse at the Quickway convenience store, 306 Conklin Ave., Binghamton. Inside the change purse was his debit card, Drivers License, Social Security card, and other credit cards. When the victim called his credit card company, he was told that nearly $500 had been charged to his card on February 13, 2007. Nearly $275 had been charged at K-Mart between 10:21 AM and 10:53 AM. Another $225 was charged at various local Giant Markets between 8:57 AM and 9:32 PM. Surveillance cameras at K-Mart captured images of the suspect; he is described as a tall, thin male wearing a red hooded sweatshirt, possibly bearing a sports team logo on the front. He also had on a black coat with a gray liner, black pants, black shoes and black baseball cap. He appears to be a white male, or a light skinned Hispanic male, with possible facial hair.  
 
  

On February 20 th, 2007, three males committed a burglary in a building in Binghamton’s First Ward. What the burglars were unaware of however is that the building had a surveillance system that was capturing their every move.

At about 3:40PM, two black males were caught on tape entering a building at 15 Charles St, and then going from floor to floor trying to open doors. They were then joined by another black male, who accompanied them to the third floor of the building where they entered an apartment and stole a laptop computer, a desktop computer tower, and some cash. They are then seen running from the apartment with the stolen items. The first male is described as being in his late 20’s, with a medium build and short hair. He was wearing a baggy, light colored shirt, with horizontal stripes and a collar, baggy jeans, and Timberland style boots. The second suspect also appears to be in his late 20’s, with a thin build and a moustache. He was wearing baggy jeans, a blue shirt, and a light colored jacket or flannel shirt that buttoned up the front and consisted of many colors, with one sleeve white, the other multi-colored. The third suspect was also in his 20’s and possibly had a moustache. He was wearing baggy jeans, a dark shirt, and a red and white checkered flannel shirt, and a red “Do-rag” style bandanna on his head. The suspects may have left the scene in a blue Nissan Altima.

 
 

Since early March of 2007, police agencies throughout the Greater Binghamton area have received several reports of copper being stolen from vacant homes.

Apparently the thieves have been taking large amounts of copper tubing and copper wiring from homes that have either been abandoned or were under construction, presumably to recycle for cash.

There have also been instances of commercial burglaries where large amounts of copper wiring have been taken.

 
 
 

Sometime between March 24 th and April 8 th someone stole a canoe from the rear of a house on Edwards St in Binghamton.

The canoe, a 12’ Hornbeck Kevlar canoe, is tan with a red stripe, and is valued at over $1500. The canoe had the words “Mary Rose” etched in it.

Witnesses describe a suspicious white male in the area, he was about 6’2, with a heavy build and graying brown hair.

 
 
 

At about 12:00PM on Monday, April 23, 2007, the Clintwood Pharmacy, 343 Clinton St, was robbed at gunpoint. The armed suspect entered the store and walked right to the pharmacy area and demanded OxyContin. After being given some bottles of OxyContin, the suspect fled the store. The suspect was last seen running West from the scene, possible onto the railroad tracks.

The suspect is described as being a white male, 6”2, about 230 lbs; he was wearing a black ski mask, blue hooded sweatshirt, and grey sweat pants. The suspect also appeared to have a growth of beard.

OxyContin is commonly used for pain relief, but is often abused by recreational users.

   
 
 

At about 10:30 in the morning on April 26 th, 2007, an elderly female was walking through the parking lot of the Giant Market, 279 Main St. Binghamton, when a female attempted to steal her purse.

When the victim refused to surrender her purse, the female knocked her to the ground and fled the scene on foot.

The suspect is described as a white or light skinned Hispanic female, tall with a thin build, long dark hair, wearing a black waist length coat and white caprice pants.

 

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital for her injuries.

 

Along with specific suspect information, Investigators would be interested in information from anyone who may have witnessed any of the incidents, and / or observed any suspicious individuals.

   
 
 

On 3/31/07 at about 4:30 PM a male subject damaged an Empower Federal Credit Union ATM machine located behind the La Quinta Hotel on Harry L. Drive.  This male used a tennis or racquetball racquet to smash the front of the ATM machine, causing significant damage.    ATM surveillance photos show a white male, bald, wearing dark sunglasses, dark pants, and a white short sleeve shirt. A witness described him as being about 5'10".   He was seen driving a full size Lincoln town car color black with chrome trim and tinted windows.  There may have been an unknown male and unknown female with this male at the time of the incident

 

Along with specific suspect information, Investigators would be interested in information from anyone who may have witnessed any of the incidents, and / or observed any suspicious individuals.

 
 
 

Sometime during the night of May 15, 2007, someone attached an explosive device, commonly known as a “pipe bomb” to an electrical control panel near the swimming pool at Cheri Lindsay Park in Binghamton.

The device was attached to the rear of the panel, and when detonated, damaged the panel and the components inside.

 

Along with specific suspect information, Investigators would be interested in information from anyone who may have witnessed any of the incidents, and / or observed any suspicious individuals.

 
 

At about 2:15pm on Friday, March 16 th, 2007, a residential burglary occurred at 212 Clinton St., Binghamton. The suspect apparently entered the victim’s apartment while she was showering and stole her purse, which contained some cash and her bank/ATM cards.

The suspect then used her ATM card to withdrawal cash from the ATM machine located at Clinton St. and Charles St.

Surveillance cameras at the bank captured the suspect’s image.

The suspect is described as a black male in his early 20’s, wearing a light colored parka style jacket over a dark colored do-rag.

 

 
 

At about 10:30AM on Thursday, June 21st, 2007, a woman’s purse was stolen from her shopping cart at while she was shopping at the Price Chopper, 10 Glenwood Ave., Binghamton. The suspect apparently took the woman’s purse, which contained some cash and credit cards, while she was distracted.

The purse was later recovered; but the cash and credit cards had been removed.

Surveillance cameras at the store captured the suspect’s image as she entered the store, and again as she exited the store with the victim’s purse.

The suspect appears to be a white female, possibly in her 30’s, with shoulder length dark hair.

 
 
 

At about 6:50AM on Sunday, July 15, 2007, a black male walked into the Price Chopper, 10 Glenwood Ave., Binghamton with a black duffel bag. The male then walked to the frozen foods area and put as many as 10 frozen Angus Porter House Steaks into the bag.

The male then left the store without paying for the steaks, and refused to stop for store security officers.

Video surveillance captured images of the male, who appeared to be about 30 years old, with short hair and a large build. He was wearing long baggy denim shorts and a white shirt.

 
 
 

Since September of 2006, there have been several incidents of graffiti where the word “SIE” has been spray painted on buildings throughout the downtown area of the City of Binghamton.

The majority of the incidents have occurred along the River walk on the Chenango River, and businesses that are near the river. There have also been incidents at Cheri Lindsay Park on Binghamton’s North Side.

 

 
 
 

On August 9th of this year, City Court Judge Lehmann issued a felony Bench Warrant for one Matthew T. Sadler for Criminal Mischief in the Third Degree.

The charges resulted from a domestic dispute in December of 2006 in the City of Binghamton.

 

Sadler is a white male, born 6-9-1982, 5’10, 180lbs with brown hair and blue eyes.

Sadler’s last known address is 39 Whitney Ave., Binghamton.

 

 
 
 

On July 26th of this year, City Court Judge Lehmann issued a Felony Arrest Warrant for one Robert Backman, for the crime of First Degree Rape, a class B felony.

 

Backman is described as a black male, 5’7, 140lbs, with Black hair and brown eyes, born on 2/5/1975.

Backman has used the alias “DaShawn Thomson” in the past.

Binghamton Police Department records show his last known address as 5 King Ave., Binghamton.

 

 
 
 

Sometime overnight between September 17 th and September 18 th, someone broke into an office in a downtown Binghamton office building and stole a Polar Bear Rug from a wall mount.

The rug, valued at several thousand dollars, is mounted in a face down position with its mouth open.

On August 10th of this year, City Court Judge Robert Murphy issued a Bench Warrant for one Kelly Totman, for the offenses of Welfare Fraud in the 3 rd Degree, and Criminal Possession of a forged Instrument in the 2 nd Degree

 

Totman is described as a white female, 5’8, 220lbs, with Blond hair and Hazel eyes, born on 5/7/78.

Totman has used the alias “Kelly Sopchak” in the past.

Binghamton Police Department records show her last known address as 4 Thorp St., Binghamton.

 

 
 
 

At about 11:15 PM on Sunday, October 14th, 2007, a white male entered the Hess Mart, 63 Main St, Binghamton, grabbed a 30 pack of beer and left the store without paying for it.

Just minutes prior to this, the suspect stole $65 in gas from the Hess Mart on Glenwood Ave. by driving off without paying for it. Surveillance cameras at the Main St. Hess captured the suspect’s image as he was entering the store, and a partial image of the van he was in. The suspect is described as being a white male, tall with a heavy build; he was wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt with the word “YAMAHA” on the front, and jeans. The suspect also appeared to have thinning brown hair and a goatee.

The van appears to be a blue Dodge full sized van, last seen going east on Main St.

 

 
 
 

Sometime between Friday, October 26 th, and October 29 th, 2007, a burglary occurred at a business on Binghamton’s North Side. Thieves apparently entered a fenced in area and stole at least 10 Granite Countertops. The countertops, which were precut, are valued at about $300 each. Along with specific suspect information, Investigators would be interested in information from anyone who may have witnessed any of the incidents, and / or observed any suspicious individuals.

 

 
 
 

Sometime between 7:30am and 3:00pm, on Friday, October 26 th, a burglary occurred at a residence on Carhart Avenue in Binghamton.Thieves apparently broke a glass window on the back door to gain entrance to the residence. Among the items taken from the residence are a DVD player and several DVDs, the victim’s wallet containing several credit cards, and some cash. Witnesses have mentioned that an older model grey four door sedan had been parked in front of the victim’s house every day for about a week prior to the burglary. The car was generally occupied by a black male and a black female, both in their mid-twenties. At about 5:30pm on the night of the burglary, surveillance cameras at Kohl’s department store captured the image of a dark skinned female with long black hair and a green top using the suspects Kohl’s credit card to make two separate transactions at their Vestal store.

 

Along with specific suspect information, Investigators would be interested in information from anyone who may have witnessed any of the incidents, and / or observed any suspicious individuals.

 

 
 
 

On November 26th of this year, City Court Judge Lehmann issued a Felony Arrest Warrant for one Ladwaun Hamilton, for the Offense of Failure to Comply with the New York State Sex Offender Act, a Class E Felony.

Apparently Hamilton left his registered address and moved to an unknown address without notifying any local law enforcement agency, as he is required to do. Hamilton is described as a black male, 5’4, 135lbs, with Black hair and brown eyes, born on 11/20/84. Hamilton has also used the alias of Rayshawn Brown in the past.. .

Binghamton Police Department records show he has used the address of 16 Crandall St., Binghamton in the past.
